  • Tax-deferred accumulation of contributions and any earnings until withdrawn from the plan.
  • Convenient payroll - deducted contributions
  • When you leave district employment or separate from service, you can make a withdrawal from your 457(b) account "without" incurring a 10% IRS premature distribution penalty tax, which applies to the "pre or before 59 1/2" distribution rules in other types of plans.

  • You can contribute to the 457(b) plan in addition to contributions to a 403(b) program.
